Childhood Cancer Awareness

Joshua Belletrutti
Joshua Belletrutti was a 28-month old toddler, full of life, laughter and love. He was the apple of his parents’ eyes. Near the end of March, 2009, he was suddenly and unexpectedly diagnosed with a very aggressive malignant brain and spinal cancer. In just eight short weeks, the cancer claimed his life and a bright light went out in the community of Milton.

Childhood cancers have one of the best response rates to treatment, but also have one of the lowest funding rates of all
cancers. Our community should not have to suffer the loss of another one of our little angels to this disease. As a result, very little has changed in the last 20 years in terms of treatment options available to children, and adult-designed chemotherapy drugs and radiation can cause horrible lasting side effects because they weren't designed for use in children.
