Think Beyond The Way

Embroidery is the fine art of embellishing an item with the different
colors and stitches to create a design or logo that enhances the
garment.
It starts with the good design and a good quality garment. The
item is then embroidered by a modern, up-to-date machinery run
by an experienced operator. Embroidery is a high-end product. It should
not be put on garments that cannot withstand the density of the thread or justify the cost of the process.
Embroidery cost is determined by the size of the design and thus the stitches in the actual running of the design. It is also determined by the quantity of the order. Usually quotes will include the stitch count and the cost at various quantities.
It is not possible to give an exact embroidery quote without analyzing the design to be printed. Pricing depends on number of stiches in the design. Below are the steps to consider before an exact quote can be produced:
1.
Determine the exact size of the design in inches
2.
Determine the probable stich count in the design. Below is a rough guidline:
--
A solid design with a printable background has approximately 1,500 stiches per square inch. A design with letter (no background) may have 1,200 stiches per square inch. For an example; a 3" x 2" design with solid background has a total area of 6 square inches and approximate stich count for this design will be 6 multiplied by 1,500; that is 9,000 stiches.
3. Setup cost of the job depends on stich count as well; in embroidery terms, it is called digitizing. Digitizing must be done to determine the exact stich count. The setup cost consists of two parts:
-- a flat charge of $20, plus
-- digitizing cost per 1,000 stiches is $10 (one color)
Thus, total setup cost for the above example job will be (9 x $10) + $20 = $110 (example only)
4. Before we determine the exact stich count by digitizing the design, we will require you to send us your design to give you an approximate setup quote. Before we do the digitizing, the approximate setup cost must be paid in full.
5. Once the digitizing is done, we will inform you of the exact stich count with the full quote. Any difference between the approximate and exact quote will be adjusted later.
6.Once the design, size and the sample are approved, the job will be run for production.
The steps in the average embroidery order and time estimates are:
1. Submission of good artwork and approval of size to be digitized. (1-2 days)
2. Digitizing and sewing the logo in colors specified in the work order. (2-3 days)
3. Customers approval of the design and colors as well as placement. (1+ days)
4. Embroidered sample for customer approval. (1+ days)
5. Delivery of order and sorting and/or counting. (1-5 days)
6. Embroidery and finishing including final count. (3-7 days for up to 200 pcs.)
Artwork is the key. The better the artwork, the better the design! We prefer vectorized files either ai files from illustrator (10) or eps from coreldraw10. We can use:
• JPEG
• Business cards
• Letterheads
• Envelopes
• Line drawings
• Faxes
• Existing sewouts
Charges to consider for the whole job:
• initial approximate quote will be free
• once the initial quote has been agreed on, setup charge will be $20 + $10 per 1,000 stiches one color, (minimum $60) with vector art. If you don't have a vector art file ready, we can convert your design in to vector for free as long as it is a simpler design. Otherwise, we will charge $30/h design charge. The setup charge must be paid upfront.
• The difference between the apprx. quote and the exact quote after digitization will be adjusted later
• After the setup cost, real embroidery cost varies depending on number of items to be embroidered. A typical example of 25 items with 9,500 stiches will cost $4.80 per item.
• So, total cost will be (setup cost + per item cost x number of items).
Embroidery prices vary depending on complexity and quantity. Please ask for quote.
Custom logos such as corporate logos and sports crests should be digitized by a professional into a format most embroidery machines can read for the best possible results.
There are times that digitizing is not necessarily the best solution. One time events, small team orders, special occasion gifts, monogrammed shirts and towels are all good examples of orders that don’t need costly digitizing.
Create your own embroidery designs with stock designs and / or embroidery fonts for a quick, cost-efficient design solution. We carry most of the 40,000 designs featured in these two on-line catalogues. You can use these pre-digitized designs alone or combined with lettering. There are however, a few considerations when making your choice.
Here are some of the major ones:

LETTERING FONTS
When choosing fonts the same considerations apply to your selection. There are other factors to keep in mind such as the minimum and maximum sizes a font can be before it becomes either illegible and damages the garment or too loose and unravels. Most block fonts can’t exceed 2” in height and shouldn’t be smaller than ¼”. Script letters can not be smaller that ½” and 2 color fonts must be at least 1” high.
Some common sports fonts are: Block, Brush, Open Block, Curtis, Century, Athletic and Outline as well as 2 color Athletic.
Popular monogram fonts include Block, Brush, Century, Commercial, Diana, Hobo, and Monogram.
